There are three main aspects of spirituality: a sense of responsibility, remaining humble, and being grateful for the joys of this world and the hereafter. A person's spirituality can grow through frequent reading of the Quran.
Not only should you read it, you should also understand its meaning and apply it in your daily activities. This holy book is a direct revelation from God to humanity.
Each verse contains profound meanings about life's values and holds wisdom. Your spirituality in reading the Quran will naturally grow as you read it with deep appreciation.
Another benefit is that you can evaluate life's values. The holy book contains teachings of high morality and ethics, guiding each individual to live with integrity and compassion for other creatures.

So reading the holy book is not only an obligation in the Islamic religion but is a profound journey for a human being to get closer to God.
Reading the Koran cannot be haphazard, you have to know the etiquette before, during and after reading it. The Koran is the holy book for Muslims, therefore you as a Muslim are obliged to honor it.
The first step you need to do before reading it is to read the prayer first.
Ta'awwudz a'udzu billahisami'il-alimi minasy-syaithanir-rajim. Rabbi a'udzu bika min ha mazatisy-syayathin, wa a'udzu bika rabbi an yahdhurun.
The meaning is that we seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing and All-Knowing, from the temptations of the trapped Satan. O Allah, we seek refuge in You alone from the whispers of Satan and we seek refuge in You, O Allah, from their coming to us.
This prayer is useful for protecting you from all the evil that Satan tries to do. After reading it, it's best to continue by reciting Surah An-Nas and Surah Al-Fatihah.
When you begin reading, there are other etiquettes you should follow to your spiritual reading of the Quran . It's best to accompany reading the holy book with contemplation and meditation.
When you find verses that convey mercy and promises from Allah, you should begin praying and seeking His mercy. If you find verses containing punishment and threats, you should seek protection.
In truth, no one can be asked for protection except Allah. When you encounter a verse that emphasizes Allah's holiness, it's best to immediately recite the tasbih (prayer beads).
It should be remembered that the Quran is a holy book and must be respected, therefore when reading it you should place the Quran on a bench, cushion or high place.
After reading it devoutly, you will feel calmer and more at ease. Your spirituality in reading the Quran will increase when you also understand its translation and interpretation.
After finishing reading the prayer: Sadaqallahu ta'ala wa balagha rasulullahi shallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam, allahummanfa'na bihi, wa baraka lama fihi, alhamdu lillahi rabbil-alamin, wa astagfirullahal-hayyal-qayyum
Which means, it is true that Allah is Most High, Rasulullah SAW has conveyed the truth. O Allah, make this useful for me and give us blessings with it. Praise You, Lord of the Worlds. We ask forgiveness only from You, the Almighty, the Almighty.
