Giving alms to parents is a form of charity that has extraordinary virtue in Islam, giving alms is not only in the form of material things.

The Best Alms to Those Closest

Giving alms to parents is a form of charity that holds extraordinary virtue in Islam. Giving alms to parents is not just about providing material assistance.

But it is also a form of our devotion and love as children. In many hadiths, the Prophet Muhammad SAW emphasized the importance of doing good deeds, including through alms.

4 Benefits of Giving Alms to Parents Can Be Motivating

Almsgiving is a highly recommended form of worship in Islam, especially when given to parents. Besides being a sign of respect, this charity has many virtues that bring blessings in both this world and the hereafter. Below is a more in-depth explanation of the virtues of almsgiving for parents .

1.      Gaining the Pleasure of Allah and Parents

As is known, Allah's pleasure lies in the pleasure of parents. When you please Him, especially through giving alms to your parents , Allah will also be pleased with you.

In many hadiths, the Prophet Muhammad SAW emphasized the importance of doing good, one of the most famous hadiths is: "Allah's pleasure depends on the pleasure of parents and Allah's wrath depends on the wrath of parents." (HR. Tirmidhi)

This shows that good deeds toward parents, including charity, are the primary path to gaining Allah's approval. The approval of parents is Allah's approval, and by pleasing them through material and non-material assistance, we are actually drawing closer to Allah.

In everyday life, these actions can include providing financial support, helping them with household chores, or simply showing care and affection.

2.      Multiplied Rewards

Charity has great rewards, but charity given to parents has even greater value. This is because it is not only a charity for parents , but also a form of respect and devotion. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"No child can repay the kindness of his parents unless he finds his parents in bondage, then buys them and sets them free." (HR. Muslim)

This hadith demonstrates that devotion to one's parents is a very noble and almost irreplaceable deed. By giving alms to one's parents, you not only receive the reward of the alms itself, but also an additional reward because the act is a form of devotion to them.

This double reward is a form of reward from Allah for the kindness we give to people who have made a great contribution to our lives.

3.      Maintaining Family Relationships

By giving alms to your parents , you help maintain harmony and closeness within the family. A harmonious family will more easily achieve happiness in this world and the hereafter.

A strong, loving family is the foundation for the emotional and spiritual well-being of all its members. When we support our parents, both financially and emotionally, we create an environment of love and understanding.

Furthermore, helping parents teaches other family members the importance of mutual support and respect. The sense of gratitude and togetherness created by these actions strengthens family bonds.

Parents who feel appreciated and loved tend to be happier and emotionally healthier, which in turn has a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.

4.      Be a Good Example for Children

Charity for parents also sets a good example for your children. They will learn from you about the importance of being filial to your father and mother and continuing this tradition of kindness.

Remember, children often imitate what they see from their parents. By setting a concrete example of caring and helping their parents, you instill values of kindness and devotion that they will carry into adulthood.

Children growing up in an environment where filial piety is valued will be more likely to respect their own parents in the future.

In addition, this action also teaches them about the importance of sharing and giving alms, as well as building a generous and caring character.

In this way, you are not only doing good for your mother and father, but also forming a better and more loving generation.

Giving alms to one's parents is a highly recommended form of worship in Islam. Besides receiving manifold rewards, we also gain the approval of Allah and our parents, maintain family harmony, and set a good example for our children.

By doing so, we not only show gratitude and devotion to our father and mother, but also achieve blessings and happiness in this world and the hereafter.

Let us prioritize giving alms to our parents as a form of love and respect for those who have given so much in our lives.
