Every month of Ramadan, Muslims commemorate an important event in Islamic history, namely Nuzulul Quran , or the revelation of the Koran. This event refers to the first time Allah SWT's revelation was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW through the Angel Gabriel. Nuzulul Quran is a historical moment that brings light and guidance to mankind throughout time.
However, do we truly understand the profound meaning of the revelation of the Quran? How can we apply its wisdom to modern life? Read the following review to gain a deeper understanding of this event and how we can put its teachings into practice.
The first revelation of the Quran occurred on the night of Laylat al-Qadr , a night better than a thousand months. However, the Quran also descended gradually. The first revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was Surah Al-'Alaq, verses 1-5 :
"Read by (mentioning) the name of your Lord who created. He has created humans from a clot of blood. Read, and your Lord is the Most Gracious. Who teaches (humans) by means of kalam. He teaches humans what they do not know." (QS. Al-'Alaq: 1-5)
This event marked the beginning of the journey of Islamic preaching which lasted for 23 years, coming down gradually or in stages, as stated in the letter Al-Insan verse 23:
Meaning: " Indeed, it is We who have sent down the Qur'an to you (O Muhammad) gradually ."
The revelation of the Koran was not only a miracle for the Prophet Muhammad, but also as a guide for all mankind until the end of time.
The Quran is a holy book that provides guidance on various aspects of life, from worship and morals to social law. By understanding and practicing the Quran, we can live a more purposeful life in accordance with Islamic values.
Indeed, Allah Subhanahu wata'ala has given blessings to mankind by sending down His book, to eradicate humans from the darkness of ignorance to the light of Islam. Allah Subhanahu wata'ala says:
Meaning: " It is He (Allah) who revealed to His servants clear verses (the Koran) so that He can bring you out of darkness into light ." [QS. Al-Hadid: 9]
Nuzulul Quran is the event where the Al-Quran was revealed, there are two processes. directly and gradually. It was revealed in its entirety directly from Lauhul Mahfudz to the heavens of the world in the month of Ramadan, as Allah Subhanahu wata'ala said:
Meaning: " The month of Ramadan is (the month) in which the Koran was revealed, as guidance for humans and explanations regarding that guidance and the distinction (between right and wrong )." [QS. Al-Baqarah: 185]
The Nuzulul Quran (Number of Revelations) moment should serve as a reminder for us to draw closer to Allah SWT. By increasing our recitation (tilawah) and contemplation (tadabbur) of the Quran, we can find peace of mind and receive His guidance.
So that humans can read the words of Allah, know what is commanded to be done, and know what is forbidden to be abandoned, as well as a lesson for people who think. Allah says:
Meaning: "( This is a) Book that We have sent down to you (Muhammad) which is full of blessings, so that they can read its verses, and as a lesson for those who think ." [QS. Shaad:29]
The Quran teaches good values, such as honesty, patience, and compassion. By understanding the Quran's teachings, we can improve ourselves and become better individuals in our social lives.
The Koran was revealed gradually to strengthen the heart of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, Allah Subhanahu wata'ala said which means:
Meaning: " And the disbelievers say: 'Why wasn't the Koran revealed to him (the Prophet SAW) just once?' So that We may strengthen your hearts with it and We recite it in tartil ." [QS. Al-Furqan: 32]
Nuzulul Quran occurs during Ramadan, a blessed month that offers a golden opportunity to increase our worship. In addition to reciting the Quran, we are also encouraged to increase our night prayers, dhikr, and prayers to attain the virtue of Laylat al-Qadr.
In this digital age, many people spend more time reading social media than reading the Quran. The Nuzulul Quran commemoration should be a moment to rekindle the spirit of reading and understanding the Quran to stay connected to God's guidance.
So that the light of the Koran continues to shine in life, it is important for us to teach and preach the values of the Koran to children and the younger generation. That way, they can grow with a strong understanding of Islam and become a people who adhere firmly to its teachings.
Another lesson from the gradual revelation of the Koran is that to make it easier for the friends of Allah, may Allah be pleased with them, to memorize the Koran and understand its meaning, Allah Subhanahu wata'ala said:
Meaning: " And We have revealed the Qur'an gradually so that you may recite it to the people gradually, and We have revealed it part by part. " [QS. Al-Isra: 106]
As Muslims, we are not only required to read and understand the Quran, but also to practice and spread its teachings. By using the Quran as a guide for our lives, we can contribute to creating a better and more morally upright society.
Nuzulul Quran is not just a historical reminder, but also a moment of reflection for all of us. The Koran is a life guide sent down by Allah SWT to guide us towards the right path. By understanding its wisdom, we can use the Al-Quran as a guide in our daily lives, both in worship, social relationships, and in seeking peace of mind.
