Embrace the 2025 Resolutions in the Light of the Quran

The resolution to become a Quran Hafiz by 2025 is a manifestation of sincerity in aspiring to become a Quranic scholar, a testament to love for His words. Each new year brings an opportunity for introspection and self-improvement. For a Muslim, the new year is a moment to renew our commitment to Allah, one way of doing this is by making the Quran our primary guide. Now is the time to make the Resolution to become a Quran Hafiz by 2025—filling our days with memorization, understanding, and love for the Quran.

New Year's resolutions are not just worldly matters such as career achievements or lifestyle. As Muslims, the best resolution is one that strengthens our relationship with the Al-Quran, such as increasing our faith, knowledge, memorizing verses, understanding their meaning, and making the Al-Quran a guide to the glory of life.

Why the Resolution of Becoming a Hafiz of the Quran?

Memorizing the Koran is a big investment for the world and the hereafter. Rasulullah SAW said:

"The best of you are those who study the Koran and teach it." (HR. Bukhari)

New Year is the best time to renew intentions, the momentum to increase the target of good deeds, and improve methods in the journey of memorizing the Quran.

For this, we need a focused plan, namely with a SMART approach resolution: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

1. Specific: Determine a clear target

To succeed in your resolution to memorize the Quran, you need to set specific goals. For example:

• "I want to memorize juz 30 in 6 months."

• "I want to increase my memorization by 3 pages every week."

Avoid overly general goals, such as "I want to memorize the Quran," without clear details. Specific targets will help you feel more focused and directed.

2. Measurable: Monitor Your Progress

Make sure your resolution is clearly measurable. For example:

• Memorize 2 verses every day.

• Memorize 1 page every 3 days.

Use tools like memorization tables, Quran apps, or personal journals to track your memorization progress. This way, you can see your progress and know when to refine your strategy.

3. Achievable: Set Realistic Goals

Don't set yourself too high a goal, like memorizing one juz' (chapters) a week if you're not used to it. Instead, start small but consistently.

For example:

• "I will memorize 5 verses per day for a month."

• Once you get used to it, increase your target little by little.

Remember, the journey to becoming a Hafiz of the Quran is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistency is key!

4. Relevant: Align with your end goal

Make sure your resolutions are relevant to your life goals and priorities. If memorizing the Quran is part of your effort to draw closer to Allah, then aim for His approval.

For example, intend:

• "I want to memorize the Quran so I can better understand and practice its contents."

• "I want to become a Hafiz of the Koran so that I can teach this memorization to my family and surrounding environment."

With a strong and relevant intention, you will be more motivated to stay on track.

5. Time-bound: Set a clear deadline.

Plans without deadlines often end in failure. Therefore, set a deadline for each memorization goal.

Example:

• Memorize one short letter (such as Al-Mulk) within 10 days.

• Memorize juz 30 within 6 months.

• Memorized the entire Koran in 3 years.

However, don't forget to be flexible and allow for obstacles. If there are any delays, immediately evaluate and adjust your plan without losing enthusiasm.

Additional Tips to Support Your Resolution
1. Find a Partner or Mentor

Memorizing the Quran becomes easier when done together. Find a friend, family member, or teacher who can accompany you. That way, you can support and evaluate each other.

2. Use your free time wisely

Take advantage of free time, such as while waiting, commuting, or before bed, to review (remember). These small moments are invaluable for building consistency.

3. Combine it with Dhikr and Recitations

Make memorization a part of your daily worship. Reading and repeating what you've memorized after prayer or before bed can help you remember it more easily.

4. Routine Evaluation

Conduct weekly or monthly evaluations to track your memorization progress. If you encounter any obstacles, find solutions. Does your method need improvement? Are your goals too high? Evaluation will help you stay on track.
